Biographies
Jim is a Professor of Decision Sciences at the Graziadio Business School at Pepperdine University. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Northwestern University and an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University. Dr. DiLellio’s research interests include nonlinear optimization, simulation, and machine learning techniques for modeling tax-efficiency and renewable energy applications. His original research has led to twenty-seven peer-reviewed journal publications in outlets including Energy Economics, Journal of Economics and Finance, Journal of Investing, Financial Planning Review, and Financial Services Review.
Dr. DiLellio was recently selected as a US-UK Fulbright Scholar researching economic and financial models of renewable marine energy systems. Prior to joining academia, Dr. DiLellio spent over a decade at Boeing, Raytheon, and The Aerospace Corporation, where he developed two patents and led significant engineering projects. Recently, ETF Database recognized Dr. DiLellio as an ETF Friendly Professor. Similarly, wallethub.com cited his investment expertise in “Ask The Experts: Investing for a Secure Financial Future“. Recently, he received multiple best paper awards, including one sponsored by the CFP® Board of Standards, on retirement income planning. Dr. DiLellio is the author of two textbooks.

In 2026, Nikolas Belle joined ETFMathGuy as the technical cofounder, where he leads the software development of the TaxAlpha platform. Mr. Belle holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical & Computer Engineering from UC Santa Barbara, where he was a researcher in the school’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) Group. Outside of ETFMathGuy, Nikolas works as a research engineer developing deep learning solutions for chip design.
